This position works independently to assist R&D teams in the development, construction, testing and analysis of products, processes or equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safe and effective use of test equipment including tensile, compression, flexibility and pressure testing machinery.
  • Safe and effective use of hand and machine tools to build or modify new and existing medical instruments, components, fixtures and equipment. ( Lathe, Milling machine etc)
  • With minimal supervision, build mechanical assemblies using drawings, procedures and verbal instructions. Employ basic (DFM) design for manufacturing principals.
  • Conduct routine testing and experiments. Independently change process/equipment parameters to meet experimental objectives. Document all changes per laboratory SOPs.
  • Designs, conducts and supports gage R&R studies, design validation testing
  • Applies basic data analysis tools (Yellow belt) to experimental data and uses data to identify basic issues.
  • Research and specify equipment requirements to meet engineering, project, department needs.
  • Generate engineering change documentation using PDM or similar software
  • Implement equipment release documentation under direction (calibration, maintenance, use SOP's, IQ/OQ, ECS, ERRR), as appropriate.
  • Order/Receive routine supplies and materials as needed.
  • Develop and edit visual basic applications to assist in gathering and organizing of data
  • Schedule tasks, assignment, and projects according to priority, project need, and requested deadline. Independently resolves scheduling conflicts.
  • Identify areas for improvement to product or process, recommend solutions, and support implementing improvements.
  • Provide support to investigational studies. This may include set-up of equipment, interaction with clinical personnel and recording of data related to bench or animal labs.
  • Present findings / project progress in team meetings and project review settings.
  • Applies Good Documentation Practices; escalates issues of non-compliance as appropriate.
  • Maintains a compliant lab notebook and experimental paperwork per SOP.
  • Completes and complies with all specified training per specified due dates.
  • Verifies appropriate calibration of equipment prior to use. Proactively ensures lab resources comply with documented GLP.
  • Complies with site and department specific procedures on record keeping, use of log books, materials receiving, and inventory control.

    Qualifications:
    Education: Two-year Technical degree (i.e., AA, Certificate) or equivalent experience.
    Minimum six sigma yellow belt certification or equivalent
    Professional Experience Years: 4-7+
    Management Experience Years: None
